Best Cruise Ships for Kids

It is practically no secret whatsoever that cruises will pack in additional value for families; most of the big cruise ships will provide free activities for children, miniature golf courses, lavish playrooms, rock climbing walls and waterslides.

But with so many cruises for which to choose, how can you possibly know which is the best cruise ship for your kids.

Disney Dream – Disney Cruise Line

Much to the enjoyment of even the youngest Disney enthusiasts, various characters from Toy Story or Tinker Bell`s fairy forest will make their appearances in the Oceaneer Lab and Oceaneer Club. Outside is Goofy`s Sports Deck, with a basketball court which may be used for volleyball and soccer as well, digital sports simulators to play tennis or soccer and miniature golf course.

Though children will very much enjoy splashing around the Finding Nemo-themed water play spot, more adventurous guests will ride the Aqua Duck, a 770-foot-long, 4-deck-high flume ride. Zip around the edge of the cruise ship`s top deck, sit in 2-person inflatable rafts, and zoom thirteen feet out over the ocean in the interior of a transparent tube.

The Animator`s Palate restaurant will include video wall displays in which the Crush turtle will interact with guests and calls children by their name. A few other eating venues are well known for their children-friendly burgers, chicken tenders, pizza or hot dogs.

The extravagant production shows which perform in the Walt Disney Theatre will feature the favorite Disney characters and wonderful stage props with original story lines. Even Disney`s private island located in the Bahamas, Castaway Cay, is considered a dream for children, having a water park both on and offshore.

Norwegian Epic – Norwegian Cruise Line

Norwegian Epic pretty much everything from PlayStation III or Wii games to one of the best possible waterslides in the cruise industry: a 3-part slide which will require sitting in a massive inner tube before zipping down an enormous shoot and into a giant open-top bowl to do several quick spins before you will splash down to the end. For the youngest children who do not want to feel left out, the Norwegian Epic ship will offer a splash pool with spray fountains as well as mini slides.

Recreational sports activities will include a thirty-three-foot climbing wall with 5 routes, a twenty-four-foot-tall climbing cage named the “spider web” which is laced within enormous giant bands used for climbing, and a trampoline. Children appreciate the 2-deck-high video screen located in the atrium which will sometimes feature special sporting events, batting cage, and basketball court.

Norwegian Cruise Line will feature Nickelodeon characters at a special breakfast for children. Another perk, kids under two years old will sail free of charge if they will share their cabin with two adult passengers.

Allure and Oasis of the Seas – Royal Caribbean

The two largest cruise ships in the cruise industry will each have almost everything you will need to entertain the children: rock climbing walls, basketball court, a miniature golf course, a sprawling H2O Zone water park, a hand-carved wooden carousel, and two surfing simulators.

Ten spacious play areas, which will be connected to a large boulevard, will include rooms for crafts or arts, a space for simple science experiments, a large open gym for romping, and kiddy theater productions.

Super children-friendly eating outlets will include a pizzeria and a donut shop, both of them being free. At a la carte pricing, there is a Johnny Rockets dinner for burgers and milkshakes, an ice-cream parlor, and a cupcake shop. There are children-centric shops as well: one selling stuffed animals you are able to create or dress and another one selling vat candy.

Fleetwide, you may pre-order baby gear in the Shop Gifts and Gear section of the Royal Caribbean`s official website, and you will find the stuff waiting for you in your stateroom. There will be a drop-off nursery for ages six months to three years old. The charge will be of $8 per hour.
